Fatherhood whilst running a business: A new chapter begins!

My wife and I welcomed our first child into this world recently. To say life has changed overnight would be an understatement. One moment, I was chasing deadlines and managing jobs; the next, I was holding our newborn and realising nothing could ever compare to this.

Running a business while stepping into fatherhood is a juggling act I knew would be tough — and it is. But it’s also the most rewarding thing I’ve ever experienced.

The Juggle: Phone in One Hand, Baby in the Other

Since becoming a dad, I’ve learned that “on call” now has two meanings: one for work, and one at home. Clients might need a quote or an urgent job, but at the same time, my baby might need a feed, a cuddle, or simply my presence.

There are moments when I’m torn between answering the phone and soaking in those first smiles. It’s not easy — but it reminds me why I do what I do.

Fatherhood Gives My Business Purpose

I’ve always wanted a family. Now that I have one, my purpose feels clearer than ever.

  • Every early start, every late job, every hard day on site has more meaning now.

  • I’m not just providing for clients — I’m providing for my child and my wife.

  • I’m not just building a business — I’m building a life that gives my family security and pride.

The Reality of Balance

Some days, balance feels impossible. A newborn doesn’t care about schedules, and clients don’t always see the chaos behind the scenes. But here’s what keeps me grounded:

✨ My family gives me the motivation to show up and deliver for clients.
✨ My business gives me the means to provide and care for my family.
✨ Both roles — father and business owner — make me who I am.

Looking Forward

Yes, I’m tired. Yes, the juggle is real. But nothing compares to coming home after a long day and holding my newborn in my arms.

This new chapter of fatherhood hasn’t just changed my personal life — it’s sharpened my focus in business too. It’s no longer just about growing a company; it’s about creating a future for the little one who now depends on me.

✨ To my clients: thank you for your patience, your trust, and your support as I step into fatherhood. Every job I complete isn’t just for you — it’s for my family too.
